Routemasters at Hyde Park Corner in 1983

Routemasters at Hyde Park Corner in 1983 Video Clips. Duration : 6.18 Mins.

At 3:45 there is a brief shot of an RM repainted for London Transport's 50th anniversary (1933-1983) which helps narrow down the year this was videoed. The promised excitement on the tripod front arises at 5:15 with the arrival of the forces of law and order. Not sure what the excuse would have been if the camera was being hand held, but the tripod did (and still does) present an opportunity to halt proceedings. There is this regulation in the Royal Parks that prohibits cameras on tripods without permits that stems from the early days of street photography (in the nineteenth century) to prevent park users being needlessly harrassed. Hardly the situation here one would have thought, seeing as the offending device was on a traffic island in the middle of the public highway. They just make it up as they go along, don't they? maps.google.co.uk Next Stop: Victoria
